Analysis of Themes in Thrillers 9

Themes in Thrillers

The key themes that occur in the trailer are:

-violence

-escape

-death

Film: 9

In the trailer it is shown how the main character "9" who is a rag-doll has awakened and is all alone within a world where humanity is destroyed. During this, the rag-doll wonders around trying to look for any signs or hope of existences left in this world. He soon comes across 8 more rag-dolls and together they try to figure out the mystery behind humanity's destruction, while trying to escape vicious creations of massive soul-eating machines.  Later on it is discovered that these machines were created by the same scientist, who created the rag-dolls. The chancellor who is the dictator, was responsible for the Fabrication machines to turn against humanity after refusing to honour the scientist's deal during the creation of the Fabrication machines. This movie symbolises how anything that is created by humans mind will somehow possibly end up bad. You need to be careful on what to make or else they'll be consequences.

Describe how theme is denoted in the trailer:

Violence:  In the trailer there are many example of 'fear' shown. Example, when the rag doll '9' has awoken and is all alone in a world where humanity has gone extinct. This is also continued throughout the trailer as we get more depth of what the movie is about.     Escape: Escape is shown when the rag dolls are being chased by these soul eating machines at 0:46 (which was woken by them).                                                                Death:  Death is shown in the trailer at 0:53 where one of the rag dolls gets their souls sucked by one of the machines. During the trailer it does not show any other deaths that occur in the movie. However there are hints and signs of many deaths in the trailer.

The key theme of violence and escape is clearly denoted in the trailer and narrated.  At 0:53 into the trailer, the scene shown connotes violence from the kidnapping of one of the characters. This effectively brings the audience to the edge of their seats as this is the first exposure to violence.
